At the start of each game, the board is populated with 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, or 42 cards (depending on your selection). Each card is associated with a word and is either red, blue, neutral, or black. Only the team spymaster can see the color of the cards by pressing the "Show Secret Code" button.
The team spymaster's role is to provide hints that relate to a set of cards belonging to their team. For example, if the cards "Snake," "Mouse," and "Eagle" belong to the red team, the red team spymaster can give the hint "Animal, 3." The team members then try to guess the cards belonging to their team based on the hint. If they select a card that doesn't belong to their team, their turn is switched.
